A bill that would have reformed the statute of limitations for child sex crimes has stalled in the state Senate.
Reports say that Wednesday was supposed to be when the final vote was to take place, and it was also the last day of scheduled sessions at the state capitol for the Senate. At the center of the debate was an amendment that would open a two-year window for victims outside the statute of limitation to file civil lawsuits against their abuser. Some say that the window is unconstitutional, while others wanted the statute of limitations window to be open only against individuals and not institutions.
The bill never made it to a vote in the Senate.
