Bond has been revoked for an Allegheny County man who was briefly freed from prison after DNA tests raised questions about his rape conviction.
The Tribune-Review reports John Kunco will remain behind bars pending a second trial for an alleged sexual assault against a New Kensington woman that happened nearly 30 years ago after Judge Christopher Feliciani denied a defense request for $10,000 unsecured bond to be reinstated.
Kunco was allowed out of prison in May after a retrial was ordered in the 1990 rape case, but he was put back in jail in August after police in Allegheny County charged him with allegedly molesting a six-year-old girl after his release from a 90-year prison sentence.
Defense attorneys from the Innocence Project of New York say DNA evidence will exonerate Kunco.
