Federal investigators have opened a probe of sexual abuse in Pennsylvania Catholic churches.
The Tribune-Review reports that the investigation from the U.S. Department of Justice comes on the heels of the statewide grand jury report released in August that went into detail on many allegations of children being raped and molested by priests in six dioceses across the state, including the Greensburg Catholic Diocese.
State Attorney General Josh Shapiro said that the federal justice department reached out to him after the report was released, but they are declining to comment on the new investigation.
Officials with the Greensburg Diocese say they will cooperate with federal investigators.
