As the Steelers will once again return to Saint Vincent for their annual training camp, so will county park police.
The Trib reports that the county commissioners on Thursday approved a deal to have park officers patrol the three-week event. The county paid officers more than $10,300 for 23 eight-hour shifts during last year’s training camp, but the team wasn’t billed until this week. Commissioners say that the biill “fell through the cracks” and was being rectified as part of the agreement this time around.
Citing security concerns, county officials declined to reveal the financial and operational details of this year’s deal with the team but said the agreement carried the same financial terms as last year.
Park officers will be working closely with state police, who have jurisdiction in Unity Township.
