A renovation project is now underway for the North Hempfield Fire Station 501 on Route 66.
The Trib reports that the township is working with contractors to upgrade the interior and exterior of the building, which would bring the building built in the late 70’s up to code and put in some new amenities and safety measures.
The project got underway on May 1st with asbestos removal. While the work is underway, trucks and gear are being stored in a temporary building next door. About 18 to 20 firefighters work out of that station.
The project is expected to be finished by the end of October.
