A semiconductor manufacturer in Hempfield Township is getting a one-million-dollar state grant to support their operation. The money is being provided to Powerex Inc. by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Corporate leaders say the funds will allow them to add more staffers and increase production. Powerex is also slated to get three-million dollars through the federal CHIPS Act. The company makes high-powered processors for military electronics, aircraft, electric vehicles, and the alternative energy industry.
