The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County has announced conservation efforts in response to the ongoing drought conditions through Pennsylvania. The Trib reports that the cutbacks in unnecessary use are voluntary at this point. Authority officials say that they are doing this more of as a precaution. The National Weather Service last week issued a drought watch for the region. Parts of Westmoreland and Fayette counties were labeled as in an “extreme drought watch.”
