A federal judge is deciding not to stop the shutdown of the Pyrex glass plant in Charleroi. Yesterday, U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan issued a decision on an injunction request to keep the factory from being shuttered that was filed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. The AG had argued that the sale of Pyrex to the company that owns Anchor Hocking would constitute a monopoly in the glass bakeware industry. In his decision, the judge said the court is “sympathetic to employees whose jobs might be at risk” but that the state did not ultimately prove that anti-trust laws are being violated.
