MAWC WARNS CUSTOMERS ABOUT SCAM

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County is warning customers about a scam.  MAWC says several customers have reported scammers showing up at their homes acting like they are workers looking for gas leaks in order to gain access to elderly people’s homes in Youngwood.  MAWC says its workers will always have a MAWC id and their vehicle will always have a MAWC logo on it.  Unless there is some type of emergency or major outage in the area, MAWC workers will never ask to enter your home without scheduling a visit through the main office.  Anyone who has someone suspicious show up at their home is always urged to call MAWC to confirm that a worker should be there, or call police.
