The son of a former Steeler was sentenced to up to 16 years in prison for the attempted sale of raw fentanyl to an undercover officer in Ligonier. The Trib reports that 27-year-old Cortez Haselrig of Johnstown entered guilty pleas to four drug charges connected with a multi-county drug investigation. Police said they received a tip that Haselrig was traveling into the Ligonier area in June 2022 with enough raw fentanyl for 2,500 single doses of the drug, with a street value of about $90,000, and arranged a meeting with a confidential informant in the parking lot of a Giant Eagle store in Ligonier Borough. Haselrig was arrested as he tried to flee and was found with 50 grams of the drug and more than $1,600 in cash, according to police. Haselrig is the son of the late Steelers offensive lineman Carlton Hasselrig who died in 2020.
