The only commercial carrier that flies out of the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport has filed for bankruptcy. Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 on Monday citing growing debt and the failure of a planned merger with Jet Blue. Spirit says they plan to continue operating as normal and they expect to emerge from bankruptcy in 2025. Locally, airport authority Executive Director Gabe Monzo says the hope is that Spirit will come through the bankruptcy stronger on the other side.
