SOME SCHOOLS IMPACTED BY CYBER SECURITY BREACH INVOLVING POWERSCHOOL INFORMATION SYSTEM

Some schools in the Southwest PA region may be impacted by a cybersecurity breach involving the PowerSchool information system.  The Trib reports that the platform that organizes student and faculty information experienced a cyberattack on December 28th.  Some schools in Westmoreland and Indiana Counties sent home letters to parents noting some student information may have been among the impacted data.  PowerSchool is currently working with a forensic cybersecurity firm to investigate the matter
