Work on filling a sinkhole near Monday’s Union Restaurant in Unity is nearly complete. The Trib reports that is where 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard from Unity was found after she fell through the sinkhole into an abandoned mine. Crews have pumped 3300 cubic yards of grout into the abandoned mine void to stabilize the area. Another task that remains, for safety’s sake, is demolition of a building at the edge of the work area that the restaurant used for storage. The work stopped briefly last week due to the weather.
