The former president of the Monessen Fire Department is facing charges of stealing over $30,000 from the departments bank account over a four-year span. The Trib reports 49-year-old Stephen Gaydos III is charge with theft, receiving stolen property and other crimes. Officials with Monessen Department Number 1 were consolidating the department bank accounts and Gaydos was asked to close the account for Dues for the department and relief association, but Gaydos only turned over $7 and some change from that account, despite the belief that there was more in the account. Other fire officials found many unauthorized withdrawals over the years Gaydos is due in court next week.
