Fire crews were called out to a Derry Township home Wednesday afternoon to put out a fire that was sparked during a bathroom remodeling. The Trib reports that the fire was reported in the 4000 block of Route 982 around 1:20 PM. A relative of the homeowners was using a torch to solder a copper pipe in the bathroom when a piece of insulation made contact with the flames, according to Bradenville fire officials. Crews had to access the attic through a 2-by-2 foot crawl space. It took firefighters two hours to put it out.
