A South Carolina man was charged with fatally shooting his girlfriend late Wednesday in Rostraver. The Trib reports that charges were filed against 34-year-old Robert Chaplin in connection with the death of 35-year-old Estela Vasquez, who was found shot in the basement of a home along Route 136. She was taken to Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital where she died. Chaplin claimed at the time that the shooting was accidental. Three of her children living in the house were not hurt. Chaplin is in Westmoreland County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing on March 3rd.
