TWO HEMPFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENTS POSSIBLY MERGING

Two volunteer fire departments in Hempfield Township could be merging.  A proposal has been submitted for the High Park Volunteer Fire Department to merge with the West Point Volunteer Fire Department.  The High Park Volunteer Fire Department shut down last February after almost two years on probation for not adequately responding to emergency calls.  According to an attorney, the two fire departments could file a petition to merge and the merger could happen within the next couple months.
