An Oakmont teacher held prisoner in Russia since 2021 is a free man today. Marc Fogel was arrested in Russia four years ago for carrying a small amount of prescribed medical marijuana. He was subsequently sentenced to serve 14 years in a penal colony on a conviction for drug trafficking. President Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz announced yesterday that an exchange had been negotiated with Russia resulting in the teacher’s release. Back on U.S. soil last night and meeting with President Trump at the White House, Fogel said he feels like the luckiest man on Earth.
