A Hempfield man charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill his estranged sister wants to rescind his guilty plea. The Trib reports that 64-year-old Peter Cute pleaded guilty to one count of criminal solicitation to commit homicide back in October, but his public defender, Sara Reeb, said that he didn’t understand the nature of the proceedings. Police said that he met with undercover detectives last April in the parking lot of the New Stanton Eat n Park and offered to pay $1000 to kill his sister, claiming she blocked him from having access to his family’s property and finances. Judge Scott Mears has deferred his decision until a competency evaluation is completed.
