Ligonier Township has received just less than half the state funding they sought for a pedestrian bridge and sidewalk near Ligonier Valley High School. The Trib reports that the bridge and sidewalk is needed for students who walk to school and use the vehicular bridge that crosses Mill Creek, which has no sidewalk. The township received $587,000 in multimodal transporation dollars, but the project costs an estimated $1.2 million. Unless other funding becomes available, officials say they may have to re-think the project. The original design would consist of a pedestrian bridge next to the existing bridge and a sidewalk on either side of the crossing.
