Three municipalities are asking a county judge to formally dissolve the Crabtree Municipal Authority. The Trib reports that lawyers for Hempfield, Salem and Unity townships made the request to disband the authority that has been dormant for several years. It was formed in 2004 to try to build a public sewer system to serve about 900 customers in and around Crabtree, but the agency failed to secure state and federal funds for the project. The authority has no active members, no assets and only a solicitor. Local leaders are continuing to look for options for the sewer system.
