HEMPFIELD SUPERVISORS AWARD PRISON DEMOLITION CONTRACT

Hempfield Supervisors have awarded a demolition contract for the former SCI Greensburg Prison project.  The Trib reports that on Monday, Supervisors voted to pay Rittenour and Sons construction company $732,000 to remove hazardous material from the building then demolish them.  Demolition of the former state prison off Route 119 between Greensburg and Youngwood could start in the next 60 days.  Hempfield officials want to redevelop the land after the tear down is complete.
