Officials in Hempfield are developing plans for a volunteer fire company museum. Township Supervisor Doug Weimer introduced the idea as a way to preserve the history of the companies in the area. Weimer says the space would be a great way to showcase equipment like the 1946 American LaFrance pumper truck owned by the fire station in Grapeville and other historic pieces. Township leaders are inviting the ten fire companies in Hempfield to go under their financial management with the goal of bringing them all under the same umbrella.
