State police will once again take part in an effort to keep work zones on the PA turnpike safe. The Trib reports that “Operation Orange Squeeze” is a joint operation of the state police and the turnpike commission that started nearly 10 years ago. It will help monitor unsafe behaviors like speeding and distracted driving in turnpike work zones. The commission says that in 2024, roughly 176 crashes were reported on the turnpike in active work zones, resulting in 48 injuries and two deaths. The first Operation Orange Squeeze of 2025 will coincide with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
