Two people have been charged after a Unity woman was scammed out of $19,000. The Trib reports that preliminary hearings are set for 22-year-old Reheem Anderson and 26-year-old Floyd Forrest, both of New York. They are charged in connection with a scam reported last week by the victim, who said that she got a call claiming she won $5 million and a new car from Publisher’s Clearing House. She received a fake check for $30,000 and was instructed to cash it, and take another $9500 of her own money out to pay taxes on the winnings. After two such instances, she called police. A third attempt to get cash from her failed as police were waiting for them, and that turned into a chase that ended near the PA Turnpike. The two were denied bail, and are being held for preliminary hearings on April 28th.
