DEMOLITION UNDERWAY OF FORMER SCI GREENSBURG PRISON

Demolition is now underway at the former SCI Greensburg prison.  The Trib reports that township supervisors will soon start discussion on how to use the 96-acre site off Route 119 between Greensburg and Youngwood after the demolition is complete.  Hempfield Township is working with Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation on the project.  Township officials say they do not want to keep the property and want it back on the tax rolls as soon as possible.
