Latrobe has a new police chief, but for many, he is a familiar face.
The Trib reports that former officer Richard Bosco was sworn in this week as the new Chief of Police. He takes over for John Sleasman, who retired last year. Bosco was a patrolman in Latrobe from 1986-1990, but called the return to the department a homecoming as he was born and raised there.
Bosco began serving on task forces for the state Attorney General’s Office in September 1990, including as a special agent with the bureau of criminal investigations, handling white collar crime with a specialty in environmental crimes. He led the attorney general’s narcotics task force in the South Hills for 23 years.
