Unity Township is considering some limitations for future solar farms. The Trib reports that if the amendment to their zoning ordinance is approved, any potential solar farm would be confined to the eastern edge of the township in the conservation zone. As it stands now, solar farms can be in the agricultural district. This would not affect the existing case concerning GreenKey Solar, who want to develop a solar array on the agriculturally zoned property of Joseph Stas. While it was rejected in December by a 3-2 vote, an official opinion on the case is pending from the board’s solicitor.
