The state Department of Environmental Protection is planning on filing a citation against the operator of the Braeburn Alloy Steel plant in Lower Burrell following a hydraulic oil spill that went into the Allegheny River. The Trib reports that the investigation into the spill on February 3rd is continuing, and a DEP spokesperson said the agency has not determined whether fines or other sanctions are warranted. Crews have been at the site multiple times to monitor cleanup efforts. DEP officials say the spill was caused by a faulty hose connection on one of the facility’s tanks.
