A businessman says that he would like to see changes to the release of prisoners at the county jail for safety reasons. The Trib reports that at Monday’s Prison Board meeting, John Boettger who owns an automobile shop in South Greensburg said he sees released inmates walking along roadways near his store. Sometimes they ask to use the phone in his shop, and he also sees them walking around in clothes not suited for the weather and it’s dark. The jail releases inmates at 10 AM and 6 PM, but there’s no bus service available near the jail for the early evening release. The prison board said they will investigate some better strategies for inmate releases.
