Pennsylvania’s Senators are joining together for the commonwealth’s mushroom farmers. Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dave McCormick have reintroduced the Protecting Mushroom Farmers Act, which would require the USDA to conduct a study on offering federally-backed crop insurance for mushroom farms. A companion bill was presented in the House by Pennsylvania Representatives Chrissy Houlahan and Dan Meuser. Fetterman, who called Pennsylvania the “mushroom capital of the world,” said the state’s mushroom farmers deserve access to the same insurance as so many other producers.
