Westmoreland County Prosecutors have refuted defense claims that a Unity man was falsely accused of killing his former girlfriend. The Trib reports that a ruling is expected soon in a defense effort to end the murder case against Thomas Stanko and bar evidence of alleged prior violence towards Cassandra Gross and others. Gross was declared dead by a county judge in 2019 after she was reported missing by her family, and Stanko has been a person of interest in her case. He was charged with criminal homicide and other crimes in 2022 connected with her death. His murder trial has not yet been scheduled.
