WESTMORELAND COUNTY DA RULES THAT POLICE WERE JUSTIFIED IN FATAL SHOOTING

The Westmoreland County District Attorney has ruled that police were justified in fatally shooting a suspect during a raid in February in East Vandegrift.  The Trib reports that DA Nicole Ziccarelli said her office completed a thorough review of the shooting of 52-year-old Lyle Cessna and determined the use of deadly force was reasonable due to the immediate threat of serious bodily injury and/or death to the officers involved.  Cessna was shot on February 14th as police were serving a warrant on a charge out of Armstrong County, and he died March 3rd.
