New Kensington officials have now declared a growing sinkhole a public nuisance and are now seeking bids to fix it. The Trib reports that City Clerk Dennis Scarpinitti said they are actively trying to fix the problem, and are doing their due diligence in trying to remedy the situation. The hole is in Moss Alley between Fifth and Sixth Streets. The issue started months ago with a sanitary sewer repair on private property. When the property owner tried to fix it and eventually stopped work, the open hole started to grow.
