Longtime State Senator Don White announced his retirement from the Senate floor yesterday.
The five-term republican senator from the 41st district, which includes a part of Westmoreland County, announced that he will resign his position effective the end of February.
White was first elected in 2000 and is the longtime chairman of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee.
A special election is expected to be scheduled by Lt. Governor John Fetterman to fill the remainder of White’s term through 2020.
