Hi there! My name is Oreo, and I’m ready to be your new best friend!

I’m a very friendly girl, and I love to go for walks and spend lots of time with my friends here at Heal. I would do well in a home with other dogs, but we don’t know how I feel about cats just yet.
I’m up to date on vaccinations, spayed and I also have a microchip. Now all I need is YOU to take me home and love me forever and ever!

Claire
Terrier/ Female
50 lbs
2Y/3M/1W
I’m a 2 year old cur mix, and I’m looking for a special new family who will help me learn that the world isn’t a scary place.
I was brought to the shelter by my owner who was older and could no longer care for me. In my former home I led a very sheltered life, and never really left the house. In fact, my ride to the shelter was only my second time riding in the car.
Because I didn’t have a lot of socialization in my last home I take some time to get to know new people, especially men. With a little time and patience I start to come out of my shell and am a very affectionate and playful girl!
I didn’t live with other dogs in my last home, but here at the shelter I’m very interested in making friends with the other dogs! So I might like having a doggie sibling in my new home!!!
I’m up to date on vaccinations, spayed, and I also have a microchip.
My new family will need to be patient with me and I learn more about the world, in return I promise to give you all the unconditional love I have for the rest of my life!

I’m a very friendly boy and I love all the attention I can get from my human caregivers here at the shelter. I promise to give my new family lots of unconditional love, I just need someone to give me a chance!

Carter
Retriever, Labrador/Hound…Male
2Y/0M/3W
Hi there! My name’s Carter, will you be my new best friend?!
I am a handsome boy, who they are guessing is a hound/lab mix. I definitely have some hound in me based on my howl and my love of following my nose!
In my old home I was one of many dogs. One day some people came to our house and told my family that there were too many animals living there and that we weren’t being cared for properly. They loaded us in a van and drove us away. To make a long story short, now I’m here at Heal Animal Rescue, and I’m hoping a nice new family will fall in love with me and take me home!!!
The vet thinks I’m around 2 yrs old. I do well with other dogs, but I sure do hope there are less animals than my last home had!!
I’m up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and I also have a microchip!
I would also prefer an adult only home.
Come visit me at Heal!!

Since coming to Heal Animal Rescue I’ve seen the vet several times. I had some bad teeth taken out, and I had a hernia repaired as well. The vet says I’m a pro at surgeries though, and came through everything with flying colors. The next day I acted like nothing ever happened!
I may technically be a senior dog, but I’m still active and definitely don’t act my age! Age is just a number after all!

Hello! My name’s Benny, what’s yours??
I’m a senior gentleman and I’m looking for a new family to share my golden years with.
Benny
I was found as a stray and am now here at Heal ready to find a new place to call home. I would do well in a home with other older dogs. No young whippersnappers though….my playful puppy days are in the past and now I just want to nap the day away on my owners nice warm lap.
If you’re looking for an older dog to share your love with, please come meet me at Heal Animal Rescue. I’ll be excited to meet you!

Skylar
Terrier, Female, 0Y/8M/0W
Hi there! My name’s Skylar, what’s yours??
I’m around 8 months old and am looking for a family who will love and spoil me for the rest of my life.
I was found as a stray and had an injured leg. The staff at Heal took me to the vet, and unfortunately we learned that my leg had been broken in 2 places and had already begun to heal. Since my leg had already begun to heal incorrectly, the doctors weren’t able to repair it and I had to have my leg amputated.
Skylar
I’ve had a few weeks to recover from my surgery and am doing so good adjusting to life with only 3 legs! I run and play just like any puppy would!
I like other dogs and think it would be fun to have a furry sibling in my forever home. Some other things you should know about me are: I love to cuddle, I’m almost house trained, and I’m spayed, up to date on vaccines and have a microchip.
Since I’m a puppy I will need a family with time and patience to teach me all of the things a good dog should know as I get older. If you’re the special someone I’ve been looking for please stop by the shelter and spend some time getting to know me!
Please come visit me at Heal Animal Rescue! Stop by our website and fill out an online application at HealAnimalRescue.org.
Normal shelter hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-5, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8, and Saturday from 10-2. We hope we’ll get to meet you soon!

Hi there! My name’s Stevie, what’s yours??
I’m a handsome male cat, and I’m looking for someone to love me for the rest of my life. I love attention and I’m hoping my new family will spoil and love me for the rest of my life! Are YOU the family I’m waiting for??
I was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray. I’m not sure where my family went, or why they left me outside all alone, but I’m glad I’m safe now!
Stevie
One thing you should know about me is that I’m FIV positive. I can still live a long and healthy life, but will need a home where I’m either with other FIV positive cats or am an only cat.
I’m up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and have a microchip.
Please come visit me at Heal Animal Rescue! I can’t wait to start my new life!

Dudley
Mastiff, Cane Corso
Male
145 lbs
4Y/1M/0W
Dudley is a Cane Corso Mix that came to HEAL in September of 2020. Dudley is completely deaf and had a very hard time adjusting to life with us at first. A kind stranger found him roaming the woods by himself. At the time he was scrawny, had a severe head tilt, and walked in circles. After being evaluated by a vet, he was treated for a severe ear infection and there was suspicion of a neurologic disorder. After several rounds of antibiotics for his ear infections, neurologic signs and symptoms were ruled out.
Dudley
During Dudley’s stay with us we prepared him for a home by teaching him signs such as ‘sit’ and ‘stay’. We also “played house” with him to help teach him proper house manners. We felt it was in his best interest as well as his future adopters that we worked with him prior to being adopted into his forever home. He has been adopted a total of 3 times in the 2 years that he has been with us at HEAL. After his third failed adoption, we removed Dudley from the website to further assess his behavior and work with him.
Dudley has mellowed out, but because he has been with us for an extended period of time, he does have a hard time adjusting to new surroundings. Other potential adoptions have failed due to other dogs in the home. Dudley adores other dogs but has a hard time reading cues of other dogs, so we feel it is in his best interest that he be the only dog in the home. He also gets extremely overstimulated in the home environment. His brain goes into overdrive, and he will start grabbing everything in sight because he thinks it’s a toy. With this type of behavior, it is best to gradually introduce him into a home environment.
We also recommend that he go to a home with a fenced in yard since he is deaf. With this disability he should not be let off leash, however he still needs a place to burn off his energy in a safe place. He will also do best in a home where he can have his own designated space to have lots of “me time”. These specifications will help him adapt and prevent him from becoming overstimulated.
After countless assessments we can assure you, Dudley is a good dog, but his ability to become overstimulated often leads people to assume he has aggressive behaviors. Dudley may be a lifelong project or may adapt to life quickly in your home. No matter the case, HEAL will always be there to assist with Dudley and special cases like Dudley.
